Producing the 1997 World Premiere
Click on the Event Poster to see the pictorial essay about the former coffeehouse performer and rock 'n' roll singer-songwriter's considerations, deliberations and tribulations that ultimately resulted in the production of this historic, award-winning, bardic-style storytelling event. Grumpuss was unknown, but Travis convinced himself (and several others), that it was a fairly straightforward proposition -- a gamble, to be sure, but all that was needed was a hook, a star, an historically exciting location (preferably steeped in the bardic tradition), and a little bit of luck. |

The World Premiere Performance
Notwithstanding the magnificent performances of bards of old, there was never a show like Grumpuss before. But for all the pomp and majesty of the world premiere, it was truly a one night stand, a live performance entirely from memory and entirely in rhyme. Click on the Queen's Lifeguard Trumpeter for the inside story of the World Premiere of an original fantasy adventure in rhyme, performed by its creator, Travis Edward Pike, one of America's greatest living storytellers. |

The World Premiere Banquet
In keeping with the bardic tradition, there was a bountiful feast after the show. Click on the Pipe Major to join the one hundred of Travis Pike's special friends, fans and celebrity guests at the World Premiere Banquet held in the Long Library at Blenheim Palace, a World Heritage Site, home to the Dukes of Marlborough and birthplacwe of Sir Winston Churchill.
